Cwm Taf Morgannwg Mind – supported self-help practitioner

We’re looking for a child and young persons (youth) supported self-help practitioner to support 11–15-year-olds with limited school attendance across Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil. You’ll deliver one-to-one, face-to-face sessions that empower young people to manage their mental health with compassion and confidence.

What you'll do

In this role you'll:

  • Offer and effectively deliver a facilitated supported self-help service, with children and, where appropriate, their trusted adult
  • Carry a caseload of clients and to effectively manage all client contact
  • Work closely with schools, local authority wellbeing and education psychology professionals to support children increase their wellbeing and school attendance
  • Ensure all elements of this service is delivered in line with funder and partner agreements

About you

We're looking for someone with:

  • At least 12 months’ experience supporting the mental health of children and young people
  • Degree in a relevant field (for instance psychology, counselling, childhood studies)
  • Strong team-working, project management, and facilitation skills
  • Knowledge of common mental health challenges, safeguarding, and ideally the Whole School and NEST frameworks
