Coventry and Warwickshire Mind – group support worker

The Community Autism Support Service (CASS) is a new partnership between Coventry and Warwickshire Mind, Autism West Midlands and Act for Autism.

This role will involve you working as part of a team delivering support groups across Coventry and Warwickshire to autistic adults and children with mild to moderate mental health concerns at pre- and post-assessment stage.

What you'll do

In this role you'll:

  • Receive referrals and effectively manage contact of people in the service
  • Offer direct support to autistic children and adults through group support sessions
  • Ensure needs identified are being addressed through regular support plan reviews
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding issues and concerns identified involving relevant staff and other agencies where appropriate

About you

We're looking for someone with:

  • A minimum of one year's experience of providing support interventions to vulnerable adults with varying mental health and wellbeing needs
  • Lived or work experience of autism
  • Experience of delivering a wide range of practical and emotional support
  • Experience of empowering adults to positively engage with support activities
  • Up to date knowledge of mental health, specifically in relation to the difficulties that may present in autistic adults
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent
