Stigma and fear of prejudice and things, definitely held me back from forming some relationships I might have done.
Mental health problems are still surrounded by ignorance, prejudice and fear. Nearly nine out of ten people with a mental health problem say they have faced stigma and discrimination.
Time to Change, England's biggest anti-stigma programme run jointly by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, has been working hard to improve attitudes and behaviour towards people with mental health problems. Since it began in 2007, public attitudes towards the one in four of us with a mental health problem have improved significantly.
We've come a long way, but there's so much more we can do to reduce mental health stigma and discrimination.
That's why Time to Change needs to carry on its good work and why we're calling on the next government to continue funding this pioneering programme.
