The evidence for ecotherapy

Our new report Feel better outside, feel better inside presents the latest evidence for benefits of ecotherapy and shows how it can help Health and Wellbeing Boards meet outcomes across health, social care and public health.

The report uses examples from a study by the University of Essex on the wellbeing improvements experienced by people who used our Ecominds scheme. Additional research by nef consulting also explores the potential cost savings to the public purse from using an ecotherapy approach.

Read a summary of the reserch findings.

Ecotherapy in action

Ecotherapy is all about being active outdoors in nature. These inspirational participants at four Ecominds-supported projects explain how ecotherapy helped them to manage their health problems and open new doors.

We filmed at Growing Well in Cumbria; Idle Valley Nature Reserve in Nottinghamshire; PoLLeN in Bromley by Bow; and at Grounded Ecotherapy's rooftop garden at the Southbank Centre in London.
