Giving in memory: personal stories
Two of our supporters share why they feel it is important to support Mind in memory of someone close to them.
Adam's story: in memory of Dale
Manchester City and England winger Adam Johnson supports Mind in memory of his best friend, Dale Roberts.
Fellow footballer Dale, who Adam had known since he was 11 years old, took his own life in December 2010.
Mental health problems affect all of us in different ways. I lost my best friend Dale because he found life too hard If you have lost someone through mental distress, Mind can provide help and support to you, your family and friends. Mind can also support you by creating a lasting memory of your loved one's life through a tribute fund.

Simon and Sally's story: in memory of Amanda
When Simon’s sister Amanda took her own life, he and best friend Sally decided to become involved with Mind by fundraising in Amanda’s memory.
By supporting Mind in Amanda’s memory, we felt we were doing something for her, something in her memory.
It’s important to have a charity like Mind that’s trying to break down the barriers of prejudice regarding mental illness.

Amanda was a happy, vibrant girl, who was very caring. We used to have such a laugh together; she was important to all of us.
