This report presents findings from surveys carried out among service users during 2006. It shows how factors ranging from the appearance of a ward to patients' dignity, privacy and safety from abuse can affect the effectiveness of a service in having positive impacts on patients' mental health. Includes a list of recommendations for mental health wards.
