Mindcast shortlisted for a Sony Radio Academy Award

Posted Wednesday 4 April 2012

We are delighted that Radio DJ and Mind Media Awards judge Matt Wilkinson and Mind media volunteer Siobhan O’Neil have been nominated for a very prestigious Sony Radio Academy Award.

These awards are the Oscars of the UK radio world and it’s a real achievement to have been shortlisted. They are nominated in the ‘Best internet programme’ category for Matt’s ‘Mindcast’ interview with Siobhan about her experience of living with bipolar disorder.

Mind's Chief Executive Paul Farmer said:

The Mindcast programme is a fantastic resource that has proved to be a really effective way of reaching out to thousands of people who might be experiencing bipolar disorder, and their loved ones. There is still a lot of misunderstanding about mental health problems and this programme helps to paint a real and vivid picture of what it is like to live with bipolar disorder.

The presenter Matt Wilkinson does a great job of asking simple and sensitive questions that allow the interviewee Siobhan to feel comfortable enough to speak candidly about her experiences. Her story is really inspiring and provides reassurance to anyone going through similar issues that there is hope for recovery.

We wish Matt and Siobhan the best of luck at the ceremony on Monday 14th May at Grosvenor House. See the full list of nominees
