Running with Miriam in mind

Posted Thursday 2 October 2008

This Sunday, 32 friends from Tyne Tees will be running the Great North Run in memory of their friend Miriam Ogden, who tragically took her own life last year. Miriam, 23, was studying medicine at Cambridge University and described as 'a great and loyal friend' who loved art and baking cupcakes. A few years ago she completed the Great North Run raising money for Mind, and as a tribute to her the 32 young women have come together with the aim of raising over £10,000 for the mental health charity which was close to Miriam's heart.

In addition to the run the group are organising a number of other fundraising activities, including taking over a local bar the night before selling pasta dishes for runners needing to carb-load and there will also be a photography exhibition and auction with a live band. The group have so far raised over £8000.
