Mind Champion of the Year

alastairpaul200Mind Champion of the Year is awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to mental health over the past year, whether it’s by campaigning, speaking out against stigma or contributing to improving the lives of people with mental distress. Champion of the Year entrants are nominated and voted for by the public.

Nominations for this year's Mind Champion are now open. If you would like to propose somebody for the award, please complete the nomination form below. Nominations close on 10 May, after which a shortlist of nominees will be posted for the final round of voting to decide Mind's 2010 Champion.

Mind Book of the Year

sathnam150The Mind Book of the Year award is presented to authors of either fact or fiction who have produced a work that deepens our understanding of mental distress in its broadest terms. Now in its 30th year, the award is judged by distinguished authors Blake Morrison, Fay Weldon and Michèle Roberts.

Last year’s winner was Sathnam Sanghera, who was selected from 110 entrants for his debut novel The Boy with the Topknot: a memoir of love, secrets and lies in Wolverhampton.

Mind Journalist and Student Journalist of the Year

eleanorpaulThe Mind Journalist of the Year award rewards excellence in reporting on mental health issues, and is open to print journalists who have raised awareness and promoted understanding of mental distress. Mind also encourages good reporting on mental health issues among young journalists with the Mind Student Journalist of the Year award. Nominations are now open for Mind Journalist of the Year and Mind Student Journalist of the Year.
