Storytelling workshop in June

Mind Cymru are providing three people with experience of mental distress the opportunity to attend a three day digital storytelling workshop. The project will be facilitated by “Story Works” at the University of Glamorgan at the beginning of June.

During the course, participants will learn how to create a script, how to put a film together and edit it. We hope it will be a useful, fulfilling project for people, helping them to reclaim their life stories/experiences, which will in turn help to fight stigma that surrounds mental health. Participants can share/record whatever they feel comfortable with when talking about their lives and mental health, and have complete control over the editing process.

The workshop will consist of each person sharing stories about their lives and writing their script, followed by filming and editing to get a final piece. Each participant will get their own DVD at the end of the course.

Mind Cymru will be using extracts of each film on our website, to educate and break stigma about mental health by humanizing the issues surrounding mental health-watch this space!
