Mind Cymru was delighted to achieve the prestigious Investing in Volunteers award in February 2011. This is a UK Quality Standard Award for good practice in volunteering management.

We welcome people with severe and enduring conditions such as schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder as well as people experiencing depression, stress and anxiety to volunteer at Mind Cymru's office in Cardiff. Volunteers experience a very supportive office working environment.

Steve, who's been volunteering since August 2008, says:

It makes me feel good being a volunteer here.
Today I have something to do, it's like winning the bingo!

Other volunteers have said of the scheme:

Gives you a lift - a reason to be alive.

People make you feel part of a team - like an extended family almost.

Many of our volunteers find that this is just the boost they need to their confidence to get them back into education or work.

Marina says:

I have volunteered at Mind Cymru for nearly two years, during which time I have enjoyed both the work experience and the lovely atmosphere with very encouraging, friendly staff.

Not only has it helped me to socialise again, but also raised my confidence level which was very low.

Find out how you can volunteer with Mind Cymru.
