Mind in Salford and The Angel Healthy Living Centre Ltd. (The Angel) have set the goal of creating a self-sufficient wellbeing garden centre, Garden Needs, in Salford to help people to really see, understand, contribute to and enjoy the patchwork garden that covers this great city.
They have £150,000 from Ecominds to employ new staff and take over an existing garden centre in Lower Broughton, Salford to run as a social enterprise.
Garden Needs has the opportunity to work with mental health service users to build confidence, train them how to grow in organic systems and provide pathways to employment and further education through horticultural training and voluntary opportunities. The aim is to improve people's self confidence and break their social isolation through training and volunteering
