In order to make mental health topics more accessible, Mind features real stories from people who have experience of mental distress. Why not submit your own experiences to our website? Sharing your experiences of mental health problems can give others a better understanding of the issues.
People who share their stories can help our work in many ways, such as promoting understanding of mental health issues and speaking to journalists on our behalf.
We regularly work with people who volunteer to discuss their experiences with journalists.

We also use people’s experiences of different issues related to mental health to inform our policies and strengthen our campaigns.
Please check the Take action page to see if your story might be relevant for one of our calls for evidence. If your story doesn’t relate specifically to one of our areas of current work, but you would you like to share your story to give people a better understanding of mental health issues, please email us.
Who are you writing for?
If we choose to publish your story, your experience will be read by visitors to our website. Think about the kind of things that you would like to read here. Perhaps you would like to get an insight into another's experiences of mental distress, coping mechanisms, treatments that have and have not helped them; perhaps you would like to know what it's like to live with a diagnosis, or in an acute care ward. You will have experienced something that others will find helpful or interesting.
Why do you want to share your story?
Your experiences are incredibly valuable to visitors to our site. However, we can't publish your autobiography! Think about the details that really stick out - people or treatments that were or are important or helpful, for example. Keep your submission as brief and concise as you can.
Why is this important?
Finally, thank you! Mind relies on experiences like yours in order to inform others about mental health difficulties. Sharing your story can support and inform others; we're grateful for your submission.
