The 10,000 Steps Challenge
Research shows that those who are more active have a greater sense of wellbeing and lower rates of depression and anxiety.
So why not make it your New Years resolution to increase your physical activity and raise money for Mind by taking on the 10,000 steps challenge?
Join an online community and for six weeks walk, run, swim or cycle to achieve 10,000 steps per day – that is the equivalent of 200 miles!
The challenge begins on 3 June 2013.
How does it work?
When registering for the challenge you will receive a USB digital pedometer which will record your steps and give you access to the Activity4Charity fundraising website.
Each day upload the data from the USB stick onto your computer. Your data will then be recorded onto your online Activity4Charity account. Here you will be able to monitor your progress and keep in touch with other people who are doing the challenge.
How does the fundraising work?
Each day you can achieve up to three tokens. Tokens will be awarded depending on how many steps you do. You will be able to fundraise for Mind by asking people to sponsor you per token received.
So, what's next?
Register on the Activity4Charity website and select Mind as your charity to support. You can either compete as an individual or join as a team of five.
The early bird registration fee is £31.41 (inc VAT excl. PP) and this rate is available until 30 April when using the code Event13 on registration.
