Mind's May Skydive

Take to the skies in May and do a sponsored skydive for Mind.

All we ask is that you do your skydive in May. You then get to choose the airfield and the date.

What’s more, if you agree to raise £395 you can jump for free.

Skydive Larger p12 13 REBECCAIf you want to join in the fun this May it couldn’t be easier. First of all register your interest with us.

We will then send you our skydiving enquiry pack, which is filled with everything you need to know about the jump, as well as a reservation form. All that is left to do is book your jump.

Once you have booked your skydive, we will send you our welcome pack and support you throughout your fundraising campaign.

If you need some more persuading, have a read of Rebecca’s amazing account of the skydive she did last year, in memory of her boyfriend Alex Holland.

Alex was an incredibly gifted singer, songwriter, musician, actor, dancer, artist; there was very little he couldn't turn his hand to. He was also one of the kindest, funniest, most loving and inspiring people I've ever met.

He had struggled with depression from a young age and had fought it for a long time. Sadly he lost the battle in 2010 and took his own life.

One of Alex’s closest friends did a cycle in his memory and I was inspired to honour Alex through a challenge of my own. A skydive was something that I had always fancied doing and to raise money for Mind at the same time, seemed like the most appropriate memorial challenge. Knowing that I had committed to doing something positive in his memory really helped me to keep going. It also meant a lot to know that the money I was raising could help prevent the loss of another life.

The jump was amazing. I absolutely loved it. My favourite part was the freefall, which surprised me as I thought I'd be terrified, but the experience was incredibly exhilarating. Once the parachute opens and you are drifting towards earth, everything is so peaceful although it was over too quickly!

I'd love to do it again, one of these days; solo next time!
