About the challenge
Have a look at our Storify to see what happened in 2013.Run for Mind in the Virgin London Marathon! This is one of life's great challenges; the atmosphere is second to none and the sense of achievement is wonderful.
As a fundraising event nothing can compete with the marathon, with thousands of people taking to the streets each year, many in fancy dress, raising money for causes close to their hearts. We'd love to have you running as part of our team.
By running the marathon for Mind I feel I have succeeded in making many people aware of the charity's work and, in being open about my reasons for doing it, have raised awareness of the ongoing struggle for those of us who live with mental health issues. It has been an amazing experience.

Our support
Whether you have your own place or a Mind guaranteed place we will be with you every step of the way.
We offer all our runners a fantastic support package including:
- loads of training and fundraising advice
- regular e-newsletter updates
- training days to meet the rest of the team
- a vest with your name overprinted
- enthusiastic cheering teams along the route
- a post race reception with refreshments and massages
- a dedicated and experienced project manager to provide support and advice.
We will do all that we can to ensure that your London Marathon experience is one you will never forget.
Join our team
There are two ways in which you can join the Mind team:
1. Guaranteed charity place
Every year, Mind have a number of guaranteed charity places. To run on one of our charity places, we will ask you to pay £100 registration fee (you will only pay if you are offered a place) and to raise a minimum sponsorship amount of £1,650 (excluding gift aid).
Register your interest, and we will invite you to apply for a place in June.
2. Your own place
If you are successful in the London Marathon public ballot and received your accepted Magazine, or you got your place through a running club, or have a deferred entry we would be delighted to have you join the Mind team, just let us know.
Double your chances of getting in - apply for the London marathon ballot on Monday 29 April.
As an own place runner, you receive all the support from our dedicated Events Team as those on the Mind team, but you don't need one of our charity places and there are no sponsorship targets to meet.
