Royal Bank of Scotland Group
In partnership with the Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS), we have developed and distributed vital information about money and mental health.
Over 2010-2011 RBS supported three phases of activity that meet our shared objective - to increase the reach of financial capability resources and information to people with mental health problems.
Together we conducted a survey to assess the situation and experiences of people who have faced mental health problems since the start of the recession in the UK in 2008.
This has given us a vital insight into the financial situation of people with mental health problems, who are more than three times as likely to be in debt as the general population. This information has also helped us to identify how services and support can be improved and to highlight the gaps in our current information provision.
Together we produced a troubleshooter and booklet that will be disseminated to every GP surgery, Primary Care Trust, NHS Manager, Citizens Advice Bureau and local Mind in England and Wales.
These resources address the link between debt and mental health and are designed to help people better manage their finances, and avoid getting into problematic debt.
We have also created and refreshed a marketing plan to increase traffic to our money pages.
