Welfare Reform Act 2009 briefing

A Welfare Reform Bill was introduced into the House of Commons in January 2009. Its aim was to meet the Government’s aspiration of an 80 per cent employment rate for people of working age and was building on earlier reforms, offering more tailored support to individuals but linking this support to a number of new conditions for people receiving benefits. This briefing outlines the Government's proposals, Mind's campaigning on the Bill and the final outcomes.
