Why join Mind?
One in four of us will experience a mental health problem at some point in our lives. For many people having a mental health problem makes it difficult to find work, a place to live, and be accepted by friends and neighbours at a time when they most need support.
If you care about mental health, why not join us, and help promote a better life for people with experience of mental distress.
For more than 50 years, Mind has been working to make it easier for people to speak out about their experience of mental distress, and to join with others to fight prejudice and discrimination.
Mind provides information on all aspects of mental health to people who experience mental distress and their families, to professionals and the public. We also campaign for greater understanding in the wider community.
- MindinfoLine (0845 7660 163), provides information on a range of subjects related to mental health, including different treatments and access to services. Open Monday to Friday, 9.15am to 5.15pm, you can call us from anywhere in the country for the price of a local call.
- MindLink, our user support network, offers members opportunities to share experiences and influence our work.
- Mind's publications mail order service offers a range of books on mental health, and information booklets on subjects such as sleep problems, herbal remedies, eating distress, panic attacks, employment and childhood distress.
- Our national magazine, Openmind, is widely respected for its breadth of coverage on mental health issues.
- The national training programme enables professionals to recognise the signs of mental distress, and to develop more effective ways of helping.
- Our Legal and Policy Units provide information on legislation and legal matters concerning mental health. Lawyers who work in mental health law can join our Legal Network.
You may wish to join Mind because you, a friend or family member has experienced mental distress, or because your work involves helping people with mental health problems. Or you may simply feel that more should be done to promote the rights of those who experience mental distress.
As a member of Mind, you will make a valuable financial contribution to our work. And you will have a chance to have your say on key mental health issues.
