Lord Bragg delivers Mental Health Alliance petition to Number 10

Tuesday 20 March 2007

Peers Melvyn Bragg, President of Mind, Conservative health spokesperson, Earl Howe, Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Baroness Neuberger, and psychiatrist Baroness Murphy, marched on 10 Downing Street this morning to hand in the Mental Health Alliance's petition on reform of the Mental Health Act.

The petition, coordinated by the Mental Health Alliance, the 78-member coalition of organisations from across the mental health spectrum, has been running since June 2006. It has been signed by 9,000 people from across the country who want to see a fair and just Bill that will give people a legal right to care and treatment when they first need it, not neglecting them until some may
reach a crisis state.
