 40 Words from Mistley

Sandra New
40 Words from Mistley

"I was on a psychiatric ward and  was extremely frightened about what was happening both to me and around me.

I was desperate to talk to someone who could explain things - but no one was available. The nurses spent all their time in their office, usually with the door closed. If you knocked and asked to speak to someone the answer was invariably "I'll come and find you later". They never did, so us patients relied on each other for help, support and explanations - and I acquired a new vocabulary - hence "40 words from Mistley".

Getting Better

"The first is representing a celebration of me getting better, at the time I did the picture my voices had stopped and I was feeling happier. So it's also representing excitement for the future."
