Ward Watch art competition shortlist
As part of Mind’s Ward Watch campaign to improve conditions in hospital for mental health patients, Mind launched an art competition in 2004. The competition was judged by staff at the Dulwich Picture Gallery. Georgina Pope and Johanna Kociejowski congratulated the winner, Linda Hart, on her work The One That Got Away. Joan Young was runner up for I'll sit here quietly (Scared).
The competition was open to all service users and entrants were asked to produce a work of art based on the theme of ‘being an inpatient’. Out of several hundred entries received, 19 works were shortlisted.
The exhibition was on display in the King’s Fund conservatory from 1 to 15 February. From 21 to 26 February there are exhibitions at two sites in Wales, the Washington Gallery in Penarth and the Temple of Peace in Cardiff.
The exhibition will also be displayed at Mind's annual conference in Harrogate on 15 to 17 March.
