Walking the Way to Health


Walking the Way to Health (WHI) is the national body promoting and setting the standards for led health walks. It encourages people to take regular short walks in their communities and supports over 400 local health walk schemes. For a wealth of information on how, why and where to start walking now – as well as research, statistics and latest news for health and leisure professionals – visit their website: www.whi.org.uk. WHI is a joint initiative between Natural England and the British Heart Foundation.

As mentioned, they support over 400 local health walk schemes and you can find your nearest Walk by using the WHI Walk Finder. There are two walks that are aimed at those with mental health issues based in Manchester and Bristol and more information about these can be found on WHI's website.
