Rethink politics

Rethink Politics is a ground breaking campaign to raise the political awareness and engagement of people affected by mental illness. This year we are training service users and carers across England and Northern Ireland to become Rethink Politics Champions. This will give people the opportunity to:

  • Help empower people with severe mental illness and their carers to participate in the democratic process
  • Meet with decision makers

Participants will learn more about the political system and how they can encourage people in their community to become more involved in politics. They will learn about politics, voting and democracy and share ideas about ways to increase political awareness in their local area.

Training will take place over three days:

  • A local workshop in April/May 2008
  • A regional democracy convention in June 2008
  • A tour of parliament or Stormont early 2009

Training places are still available. For more information or to register to take part in Rethink Politics please contact Polly Canning on Polly.Canning@rethink.org or 020 7330 9137.
