Recall of counterfeit Zyprexa (olanzapine)

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued a drug alert on 24 May 2007 about three counterfeit batches of Zyprexa (olanzapine), a neuroleptic (antipsychotic) drug prescribed for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other conditions, made by Eli Lilly.

It is believed that some of these counterfeit batches may have reached patients. There is so far no evidence of any adverse reactions specifically related to the counterfeit batches.

The batches concerned are Zyprexa (olanzapine) 10 mg tablets, with the batch numbers A229505; A200127; A216454 (or one of these numbers with a prefix or suffix). Anyone who has tablets with these batch numbers should take them to their pharmacist so that they can be returned to Eli Lilly. People with health concerns should see their GP, pharmacist or mental health team.

There is more information on the MHRA website
