About the challenge

The world's fastest growing running event, the Great Manchester run was launched in 2003 by the organisers of the Great North and Great South Runs. It starts on Corporation Street at Exchange Square in view of Urbis. The route takes you past Manchester United's stadium, Old Trafford, before heading back into the city centre.
Our support
Whether you have your own place or would like a Mind guaranteed place we will be with you every step of the way. We offer all our runners a fantastic support package including:
- loads of training and fundraising advice
- regular e-newsletter updates
- a vest with your name overprinted
- cheering points along the route
- a post race reception with refreshments and massage
- a dedicated and experienced project manager to provide support and advice.
We will do all that we can to ensure that your Great Manchester Run experience is one you will never forget.
Gaining a place
There are two ways in which you can join the Mind team:
1. Each year Mind have a number of guaranteed places in the event and if you would like to run on one of these we ask that you pay a registration fee of £25 and raise a minimum sponsorship of £150.
2. If you were lucky enough to gain your own place from the event organisers we would love you to be a part of our team too. We do not set you a minimum sponsorship target but ask you raise what you can.

Why Mind
Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales and by joining our team you will enable us to continue to provide support to the 1 in 4 people who experience mental distress in their life times.
£150 would help support a local Mind association in providing training programmes and work experience for people recovering from mental illness, increasing their confidence and giving them real employment opportunities.
