The Mind Journalist of the Year and Student Journalist of the Year awards promote and reward excellence in presenting positive images of mental health, challenging stigma and discrimination, and contributing to public understanding of mental distress. They are among several awards presented at the Mind Awards during Mind week.

The 2008 Mind Journalist of the Year is Mary O'Hara of Society Guardian.

The 2008 Mind Student Journalist of the Year is Huw Davies of Gair Rhydd.

Nominations for the 2009 awards are now open.

Mind Journalist of the Year 2009
Have you made a stand on mental health this year, or do you have a writer on your staff whom you feel has written sensitively on mental health issues? If so, nominate them for a chance of being Mind Journalist of the Year 2009. To be eligible, articles should have been published in England and/or Wales between 22 March 2008 and 20 March 2009. Either a single article or a series of pieces may be entered. For more information on how to enter, please view the Journalist awards guidance.

Student Journalist of the Year 2009
Has someone at your student mag shown skillful reporting on mental health? The Mind Student Journalist of the Year award celebrates high quality student writing that explores the experience of emotional dsitress in its broadest context. You can enter either a single article or a series of pieces. To be eligible, articles need to have been published in England and/or Wales between 1 September 2008 and 27 March 2009.
