Mind awards 2009 winners
The annual Mind awards celebrate excellence in raising awareness and promoting better understanding of mental health issues. The four awards, Champion, Book, Journalist and Student Journalist of the year are presented to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to mental health awareness in their field.
The Mind award winners for 2009 were announced on Thursday 14 May at the Mind awards ceremony at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), in London, hosted by Mind’s president Lord Melvyn Bragg.
The winners are:
Champion of the Year award – Alastair Campbell
Book of the Year award - Book of the Year award – Sathnam Sanghera, for ‘The Boy with the Topknot’
Journalist and Student Journalist of the Year award
Journalist of the year – Eleanor Harding, Wandsworth Guardian
Student journalist of the Year – Nicola Byrom, Nottingham University

Mental Health Media awards
Entries from broadcast media are now invited for the Mental Health Media awards, which will be presented at the BAFTA awards ceremony in November.
