What we do
Our helpline
The MindinfoLine offers thousands of callers confidential help on a range of mental health issues. Call 0845 766 0163 from anywhere in the UK for the price of a local call. We also provide a special legal service to the public, lawyers and mental health workers. Contact MindinfoLine.
Our local Mind network
Established in 1946, Mind now has a network of over 200 local Mind associations throughout England and Wales. Our LMAs offer supported housing, crisis helplines, drop-in centres, counselling, befriending, advocacy, employment and training schemes, and other services. Our Local Mind Support Team works to support local Mind associations.
Other networks
More than 2,100 people belong to Mind Link - our network for users of mental health services – offering each other support, sharing experiences and developing skills.
Diverse Minds works to make mental health services more responsive to the needs of black and minority ethnic communities.
Rural Minds aims to improve the mental health of people in isolated rural areas.
Campaigns
Mind Campaigns helps improve the lives of people with mental health problems, working for better services, legal rights, and for a more accepting attitude among employers, and advising Government, health and local authorities and the public on best practice, services and developments in mental health community care. Mind's policies are always developed in consultation with Mind Link, Diverse Minds, Rural Minds and other networks.
In all our campaigning work we seek to empower those who use mental health services, making sure that those directly affected have their voices heard. Mental health users can become members of Mind in Action and receive information about how to respond to Government consultations and lobby their MP.
Our current campaign focuses on the Government's review of the Mental Health Act. Mind is working with other mental health organisations to ensure that the new Act gives people sufficient rights and protections.
Publications
Mind produces a wide range of publications, including factsheets, our award-winning 'Understanding...' booklets, covering anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and other mental health problems, and a 'How to...' series, promoting ways of coping and strategies for living. Over 100 Mind publications are available in full on this site. We also publish Openmind, the national mental health magazine, while an extensive programme of conferences and seminars, open and in-house training is organised every year.
