About the project

From Spring 2005 to Summer 2006 Mind consulted with service users across England to develop recommendations for improvements in advocacy provision. The project involved over 150 service users from a broad range of backgrounds.

The project's recommendations have now been compiled in a document called With us in Mind.

With us in Mind

With us in Mind covers the following:

• The advocacy relationship - Finding and engaging with an advocate; the skills of advocates; choices in advocacy and culturally appropriate advocacy
• Standards for advocacy providers
• Commissioning advocacy with service user involvement
• Recommendations for further service user involvement in advocacy.
