Lesbian gay and bisexual mental health in Wales
Fersiwn Cymraeg
Mind Out Cymru is the all Wales network for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals who either have or have had contact with mental health services through being users or workers, paid or unpaid.
Mind Out Cymru developed in response to the needs stated at the Mind Cymru annual conference in 1996, as part of an ongoing commitment by Mind Cymru to a lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) mental health rights awareness programme.
Mind Out Cymru is a network of Mind Cymru.
What does Mind Out Cymru do?
- We work at raising the profile of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals throughout Wales within the mental health services; and of mental health issues within the lesbian, gay and bisexual community.
- We work towards helping reduce isolation and discrimination by providing information, publicising the issues, and educating the public.
- We actively promote good practice and appropriate services, through facilitating training, research and liaison work with other agencies.
- We are actively involved in the governance of Mind Cymru.
Future developments for Mind Out Cymru
- Hold regular conferences and events in Wales.
- Continue to influence Mind's awareness of LGB issues.
- Support development of mental health LGB initiatives in England.
