Campaigning in Wales
Mind Cymru engages with Assembly Members of the Welsh Assembly Government and Senior Civil Servants of the National Assembly in order to influence mental health policy in Wales.
With only 60 Assembly Members, Mind Cymru can have a much more immediate working relationship with government within Wales than is usual in England.
Mind Cymru policy staff feed into Mind's campaign planning at a national level and roll out Mind's campaigns across Wales. With health structures in Wales being markedly different to England, the content of Mind's campaigns have to be tailored in Wales to give a Welsh dimension and to take into account policy and legislative differences.
Mind Cymru's stakeholders are consulted regarding campaigning work. Stakeholders include Mind Link Cymru members (Mind's service user network), Mind Out Cymru (for those with an interest in gay, lesbian and bisexual mental health) and Diverse Minds Cymru (for black and minority ethnic mental health issues).
As well as rolling out Mind's campaigns across Wales, specific Wales-only campaigns are also implemented. A current campaign is looking at the non-implementation of the National Service Framework in Wales.
